Guy Fieri’s Johnny Garlic’s California Pasta Grill

December 7, 2009

We were up in the Windsor/Santa Rosa/Napa area for a quick weekend getaway and ended up at Johnny Garlic’s for lunch.  I probably wouldn’t choose to go to a place called Johnny Garlic’s (it sounds semi cheesy, no??) but when I found out it is one of Guy Fieri’s restaurants, I was all for it!  We had a coupon for a free appetizer and decided to take advantage of it.

I was impressed from the beginning.  We were brought out focaccia bread with onions on top to be dipped in olive oil and balsamic.  The bread was amazingly flavorful and light. (not pictured)

For our free appetizer, we chose these darling American Kobe Sliders.  They came with limes on top and a few squeezes of the lime juice on the aioli sauce made these sliders special.  The meat was great and every bite was juicy.

I ordered a seared yellow fin ahi ciabatta sandwich.   It practically had a mini salad on it with Maui onion straws and a lemon caper aioli.  I was worried the capers would make the sandwich salty but it was perfectly balanced with the aoili sauce.  It came with homemade garlic chips on the side.

Boyfriend went with the Cajun chicken penne with a side of Sonoma Salad.  I actually wasn’t a big fan of his pasta but luckily, Boyfriend loved it!  His salad had dried cranberries, honey almonds and blue cheese crumbles with a balsamic dressing.

I’m so glad we were able to go to Guy’s restaurant since I’m a fan of his.  I had no idea but he lives in Santa Rosa with his family (wife and two kids) and all five of his restaurants are in NorCal.  He owns Tex Wasabi’s and Johnny Garlic’s.
