I’m darn good at eating

December 1, 2009

Did I forget to mention that AFTER we ate a scrumptious lunch at The Slanted Door, had Tasty Salted Pig Parts as a snack, and fought the massive crowd at Delfina, we rushed over to Bi-Rite for dessert?!?  I have no idea how I fit all this food in my stomach that day but that must mean I’m darn good at eating.

I love how a “single” here can actually be two flavors.  Boyfriend went with Honey Lavender and of course, Ricanelas (cinnamon with snickerdoodles).  He goes crazy for almost anything cinnamon.  The Honey Lavender was creamy sweetness and almost made me feel like I was eating flowers.  I will spare you the picture of my Pumpkin and Salted Caramel on a cone.  I was worried it would melt down and sides and you can see my lick marks.  I’m so glad I finally tried the Salted Caramel.  Salt with ice cream is an interesting flavor but it works with the Sam’s Sundae and it works here as well.

This place is teeny tiny but I managed to grab one of the three stools to sit on inside.  It’s not usually a problem but when you’re an ice cream lover and want homemade ice cream in the dead middle of winter, it makes it harder to enjoy outside.  Good news though – the Creamery is expanding!  It’ll probably be more packed than ever because yes, it is THAT good.

Please come back!

I’m so excited that “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” is going to air again on December 1, 2009 for a Holiday episode!  The Food Network stars will share the best things they’ve eaten during the holidays.  I’m hoping it’s back for another season rather than just some holiday special.  This show has inspired us to eat at so many places and it’s always exciting to see places you’ve been to already featured on the show as well.

Bi-Rite Creamery!

August 10, 2009

I’ve been watching this show on the Food Network called, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.”  Bi-Rite Creamery was featured on it and ever since I saw that episode, I’ve been dying to try Sam’s Sundae.  I FINALLY made it over there this past weekend!!

We almost didn’t go get dessert because we were so stuffed from dinner.

Once I saw the line, I knew I had to try it!!  Lines might deter people from wanting to get ice cream here but I figured it must be THAT GOOD if this many people want to stand in line to eat it.

Their sign was 2 sided with a huge list of their flavors that day.

Yay, Sam’s Sundae was there!!

Sam’s Sundae is chocolate ice cream with organic bergamot olive oil, maldon sea salt and hand-whipped whipped cream. The Bergamot olive oil is citrus-based so it is sweet and fruity which  makes for a very interesting complement to the chocolate ice cream.

Boyfriend went with Brown Butter Pecan and a cinnamon ice cream.  He loves anything with cinnamon in it!!  My Mom got kiwi strawberry and my Dad got Coffee Toffee.  All were incredible and I really can’t wait to go back and try the other flavors!!!
