Toast Beverage Catering food tasting!

We’ve only done one food tasting for our wedding so far but wow, it was fun!  I had e-mailed the owners of Toast what kind of food Boyfriend and I like and we had selected some stuff off of their online menu that we were interested in trying.  We were told to arrive hungry.  We were served tons of h’ors d’oeuvres, a wonderful salad with homemade Italian dressing, and TWO entrees.  TWO!!

My top three h’ors d’oeuvres were the ahi tuna tartar with mango chutney on a wonton crisp, beef/pork empanadas and vegetarian spring rolls.  The salad had dried cranberries, candied pecans and that wonderful homemade dressing on it with roquefort cheese.  It had the perfect blend of sweetness from the fruit and nuts and saltiness from the cheese.  Both entrees were good but the NY steak dish stood out slightly higher than the chicken stuffed with sun-dried tomato risotto.   We had rosemary potatoes that were perfectly crunchy on the outside and silky smooth on the inside and the haricot vert on the side… let’s just say that had a little buttery goodness to them.  I got to take home all of my leftovers.  Boyfriend on the other hand, ate every last bite on his plate!

We haven’t made any decisions yet but I can’t wait to do other tastings to compare!

    The steak entree was a winner. The salad was awesome too. I agree with Girlfriend on which were the best h’ors d’oeuvres. Although come to think of it, I haven’t met a tuna tartar I haven’t liked. I liked the asparagus that came with the chicken. It was prepared with balsamic vinegar so it had a nice slightly sweet tanginess to it. And yes, I was totally stuffed after all that food.
