We went out to Sumiya with a couple of Boyfriend’s coworkers for some char-grilled goodness.  We had almost anything you can imagine on a stick and then some.  We ordered some gyutan (beef tongue), chicken breast, chicken thigh, pork, enoki wrapped in bacon (my personal fave), gizzard, soboro don, kalbi don, potato mochi and more. Needless to say, we nearly had to be rolled out of this smoke box after all the food we ate.

It’s really hard to mess up anything with bacon but seriously, enoki wrapped in bacon is pure genius.  The crunchiness of the enoki wrapped in bacon fat goodness is delicious!  A lot of Yelpers had raved about the potato mochi but I didn’t think it was anything special.  I’ll stick to my gyutan and other meat on sticks over the custom stuff.

Meat on a stick… what else do I need to say?
The flavoring was pretty spot on. They didn’t overdo it so you could still taste the meaty goodness. The potato mochi and the soboro don were pretty good. Nothing special, but still tasty. I want to try Saizo again and get more of their skewers to compare.
