Mmmm, steak!!

A few days after we got back from Hawaii, Boyfriend turned 27.

I took him to Alexander’s Steakhouse since he had requested steak for his birthday dinner.  While I can’t say it was the best steak I’ve ever eaten (Mastro’s and Cut top the list) it was probably THE best dining experience I’ve ever had.  Definitely the best we’ve experienced together.  (The reason why it wasn’t the best steak I’ve had is because I prefer steak without sauce.  I feel like a good steak doesn’t need anything on it and I would rather have the wonderful beef taste.  Most steaks at Alexander’s were dressed up with some kind of fancy sauce.) 

I think I will let the pictures speak for themselves.  The food was excellent, the service was superb, the atmosphere was perfect and I don’t think anything about the evening could’ve been changed to make it a better dining experience.

The hamachi shooters were AWESOME!  I wish we ordered a couple more but had to leave room for the other stuff we ordered.  This is one of the things Alexander’s is known for.

White truffle oil french fries.  This bag was $10 or $12 but worth it.

They give you free cotton candy at the end of your meal!  Each night is a different flavor.  We had Sassy Apple… it was so—o good!

I had told the restaurant in advance that we would be celebrating Boyfriend’s birthday.  They exquisitely wrote this message in white chocolate!!  It was so pretty.

    ahhhh….truffle fries! i think they are so addicting. i like my steaks w/o sauce too… but the sauces made for some nice pictures. 🙂

    This was indeed one of our best dining experiences ever. In terms of food, service, and ambiance, this place had it all. It may have been that way because we went early on a weeknight but still, other places that have had great food only had so-so service and it’s always nice to feel like you’re being treated like you are someone special. The tuna tartare amuse bouche was a nice opening to this symphony of flavor. The salad looks a bit plain, but the yuzu vinaigrette was very flavorful. The hamachi shooters consisted of some hamachi, avocado, a slice of hot pepper, all soaked in a ponzu sauce. The slight heat from the pepper mixed with the buttery hamachi and avocado were nicely tinged with the salty/citrus flavor of the ponzu. The palate cleanser was a raspberry/strawberry/*some other berry* drink that was very refreshing. I love steak almost anyway I can get it (except overcooked) and this was a very nice piece of steak. The mushrooms were nice and buttery, a perfect complement to the steak. The truffle fries were something we had wanted to give a try and the richness of the truffles really enhanced the flavor of the fries. The cotton candy and chocolate mousse at the end of the meal was a wonderful close to a fantastic meal.
