Cocoa Puffs!
I’m not talking about the cereal but rather, Cocoa Puffs from Liliha Bakery. The last time I went to Hawaii in November I tried to go to Liliha only to find out that it is closed on Mondays! I warned Boyfriend of this when he went home in December but of course, he did not listen. He tried to go on a Monday only to find out it was closed (big surprise) so neither of us got Cocoa Puffs the last time around.
This is a great place to go late at night since it is open 24 hours. (Note: it is CLOSED on Mondays!) I’ve only ever had their cocoa puffs and cheese toast but they were great.
Since we were deprived the last time around, we bought SIX Cocoa Puffs!! We got two special matcha puffs and four original. Cocoa Puffs are cream puffs filled with chocolate pudding inside and chantilly frosting on top. I usually give Boyfriend a good chunk of my chantilly frosting because I am nice like that. : ) The original were definitely better than the matcha ones.

I love cocoa puffs and used to eat them all the time when I lived on Oahu. It’s a great place to go at 2:00 a.m. if you’re hungry. I highly recommend their grilled potatoes!

It’s not that I forgot that it’s closed! It’s that the only day I had a chance to go was on New Year’s Eve. These are one of my favorite sweets. They’re basically a cream puff but instead of a custard type filling, they have a chocolate pudding filling. I love the chantilly frosting that it comes with. The matcha ones had just a bit of the green tea taste, but the original ones are da best!

cocoa puff recipe……………………………….
Ingredients
Choux
1 cup water
1 (4 ounce) package butter
1 cup flour
4 large eggs
Filling
2 (8 ounce) packets Dream Whip topping mix
2 (6 ounce) boxes instant chocolate pudding mix
2 3/4 cups cold milk
Chantilly Frosting
1 (13 ounce) can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter
4 large egg yolks
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped toasted pecans
Directions
1Chantilly Frosting:.
2Combine milk, sugar, butter, egg yolks and vanilla.
3Cook stirring constantly, over medium heat for 12 minutes, until mixture thickens.
4Add vanilla extract.
5Chill 1 hour covered with a piece of plastic wrap directly on surface for proper spreading consistency.
6For Filling:.
7Combine all ingredients and beat with an electric mixer for 6-7 minutes on highest speed.
8For Choux:.
9Boil water and block of butter.
10Remove from heat, dump in flour.
11Stir until ball of dough forms and pulls away form the sides of saucepan.
12Mix in eggs one at a time, beat for 1 minute before adding the next.
13Scoop onto foiled cookie sheet.
14Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes then lower heat to 325 degrees for 30-35 minute (Puffs should look dry. They should peel off the foil and tip over when nudged gently with a wooden spoon.)
15Cool and cut off tops with a serrated knife. Fill, put back tops, and sprinkle w/10x sugar, or frost with chantilly frosting.
16* To fill without cutting off the tops, spoon filling into a pastry bag fitted with a large round tip. Poke the tip trough the choux puff and squeeze the bag to fill the puff.
